FAQ

Below are answers to generally asked questions. For specific questions about our programs or other inquiries please contact us!

WHAT IS NATURE IMMERSION?

Nature immersion is engaging fully with the outside world using all of our senses. We create nature immersion experiences that are inclusive and support whole child development while building an appreciation for the outdoors.

WHAT CAN MY CHILD AND I EXPECT FROM WNE?

All of our programs are 100% fully outdoors, nomadic, and all weather. Programs include nature-based play, exploration, learning, and stewardship. You and your child can also expect mixed age grouping, wildcrafting, and risky play.

ARE THERE ANY HAZARDS OR DANGERS WE SHOULD BE AWARE OF?

The safety of children is our main priority. Our teachers perform risk assessment and mitigation strategies daily. As with all active outdoor programs there is always inherent risk. We believe in the benefits of risky play and provide support to the children as needed. Inclement weather may require a location change or closure.

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR A PROGRAM?

To register for any of our programs please contact us using the form here or use the links on the corresponding program pages.

WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD WEAR?

In order for your child to fully enjoy all WNE has to offer, it is extremely important that your child is appropriately dressed for the weather. This will change with the seasons, so watch the forecast and dress for the whole day. On wet or cold days, layering and material choice matter in order to keep your child comfortable and happy throughout the day. We also recommend sending a change of clothes with your child for those really eventful days!

WHERE IS PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF?

Families can use WNE transportation which meets at Fountain Park in Chestertown, MD or meet us at the location of the day (times and locations will vary).
